BRIEF HISTORY

With more than 70 years of existence, Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia (ABC Cardiol) is one of the leading platforms for disseminating Brazilian scientific research in the field of cardiovascular sciences.

Published in two languages and indexed in major international databases, all scientific contributions undergo peer review by members of the Editorial Board and Review Panel, composed of prominent researchers from Brazil and abroad. Articles are accepted based on their relevance, originality, scientific accuracy, and significance for advancing science.

MISSION

Disseminate findings from national and international scientific research in the field of cardiovascular diseases; promote scientific debate on cardiovascular diseases through the publication of review articles, viewpoints, editorials, letters, and more; publish guidelines and scientific standards established by the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC).

OPEN ACCESS

This journal follows the Open Access model, allowing unrestricted virtual access (including financial access) to all scientific texts published by the journal.

Open Access is the condition in which the copyright holder of an academic work grants usage rights to third parties through an open license (Creative Commons Attribution, CC-BY), allowing immediate free access to the work and authorizing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.

COMPLIANCE WITH OPEN SCIENCE

The term open science refers to a model of scientific practice aligned with digital evolution, which advocates for making information available in networks, in contrast to the closed research model of traditional laboratories.

Open science practices include the publication of research data, the acceleration of editorial and communication processes through continuous article publication and the adoption of preprints, the maximization of transparency in peer review and communication workflows, and the pursuit of more comprehensive systems for evaluating articles and journals.

Our editorial policy aligns with the research communication practices of the Open Science model, and ABC Cardiol follows the Gold Open Science model.

The corresponding author, or the first author of the article, must declare their compliance with Open Science in the Mandatory Publication Form, in accordance with the Open Science Compliance Form.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

ABC Cardiol follows ethical and accountability standards in scientific communication as recommended by national and international organizations, including the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Council of Science Editors (CSE), Equator Network, International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the SciELO Guide for Good Practices to Strengthen Ethics in Scientific Publication.

Refer to the Ethics Policy published on the journal’s website.

DIGITAL PRESERVATION

This journal follows the standards defined by the Digital Preservation Policy of the SciELO Program.
