The pathologies that affect the autonomic nervous system (ANS) can manifest in different ways, depending on the etiology, degree of impairment, disease duration, presence of comorbidities, age or use of associated drugs. Many symptoms can be completely debilitating, such as severe pain in peripheral neuropathy and falls or syncope in autonomic neuropathies. Progression to severe orthostatic intolerance may occur in more advanced cases of dysautonomies, with severe early orthostatic hypotension and supine hypertension, making treatment difficult ().
