The mural painted by the visual artist Flávio Tavares for the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC), The Heart of the Tropics, is an eloquent witness of his unique talent as a painter ( ). The mural portrays the development of Brazilian cardiology. It comprises three juxtaposed acrylic-on-canvas panels, measuring 6.30m of length and 1.80m of height, with real and imaginary characters illustrating more than one century of the practice of cardiology in the largest nation of the tropics.
